Nokia is playing name games for future phones. A new leak has revealed pop culture codenames for forthcoming devices referencing Superman, James Bond, and Filipino soap operas.

Prolific rumourmonger @evleaks claims that devices under development at Nokia are internally known by the monikers Ara, Leo, Moonraker, Onyx, Peridot, Superman, Tesla, and Vantage.

There are no details yet about the specs of the device bearing these codenames, even down to whether they are Lumia smartphones, Asha feature phones, or Android-powered Nokia X devices. Nokia's latest releases include the Lumia 930 , Lumia 630 and super-cheap Nokia 225 .

"Moonraker" refers to the James Bond novel and 1979 film, originally named after a type of sail on a ship. Onyx and Peridot refer to precious stones. Nicola Tesla was a pioneer of harnessing electricity and has also lent his name to the Tesla electric car company, while the name 'Vantage' also has connections to both cars and James Bond: Britain's deadliest super-spy has driven various versions of the Aston Martin Vantage in his adventures.

As far as I can tell, Ara and Leo refer to the star-crossed lovers in short-lived 2003 soap opera " Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas" from the Philippines, in which viewers voted as to whether the couple would end up marrying in the series finale (they didn't. Poor Ara and Leo).

Superman refers to, well... y'know.

Someone at Nokia is clearly a James Bond fan: older leaks revealed the Finnish phone-fanciers were planning devices codenamed Goldfinger and Moneypenny.

007 is less impressed with Windows Phone, however: Q Branch issued Daniel Craig's Commander Bond with a Sony Xperia T smartphone in his latest outing " Skyfall".
