Nikon D200 rumors hit the Web

I've been reviewing hardware and software, devising testing methodology and handed out buying advice for what seems like forever; I'm currently absorbed by computers and gaming hardware, but previously spent many years concentrating on cameras. I've also volunteered with a cat rescue for over 15 years doing adoptions, designing marketing materials, managing volunteers and, of course, photographing cats.

It's been three years since Nikon shipped the , and we've heard nary a peep out of the company about a successor. Then, barely a week after Canon announces the EOS 5D, rumors about a D200--extremely detailed ones, to boot--conveniently begin circulating around the Web. We first spotted it at LivingRoom, which has pretty detailed specs, but it's all over the overseas blogs. My favorite is the Mecworks Blog, which deconstructs the product shot and declares it a fake. The specs are quite comparable to those of the 5D, but without knowing the price, we're not quite ready to begin drooling yet. In theory, the announcement's tomorrow.

Stupid time zones--we're always sleeping when the good rumors start.
