LG releases Optimus 3D

After its debut at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, LG has released the LG Optimus 3D Andoid smartphone.

It is shaping up to be a very good week for 3D phones. First Sprint offered its new HTC Evo 3D for review and now LG finally has released its Optimus 3D smartphone.

First announced in February at Mobile World Congress, the Optimus 3D is LG's smartphone counterpart to its Optimus Pad (aka the T-Mobile G Slate). Both Android devices shoot and play 3D video, though the Optimus 3D doesn't require glasses for you to do so. When we played with the handset in Barcelona, we found the 3D effect to be subtle but certainly unique. Images appear to float slightly off the screen and you don't have the familiar blue and red contrasting shapes that you'd see on standard 3D. It's rather fun, but I wonder how much I'd use it.

Other features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a personal organizer, USB syncing and mass storage, GPS, a music player, 8GB of internal memory, a 1,500 mAh battery, and support DLNA/HDMI connection. The phone will be available first in Europe first with more than 60 markets to follow over the summer.
