Yesterday, Alice Radio (97.3) put on its annual Now & Zen concert at Golden Gate Park. JBL, one of the sponsors of the event, was nice enough to hook me up with tickets and VIP passes for the concert. Unfortunately for me, Billy Idol dropped out of the show due to a "family emergency," but the day was quite enjoyable anyway. It was one of those rare beautiful days in San Francisco--70-plus degrees, sun for miles, and no wind (why can't it always be this way?)--and all the performers sounded great, which is a feat at an outdoor venue that isn't specifically designed for live music. Of course, JBL was showing off a couple of new products: the Creature II speakers, now in red and silver, and a black version of the portable On Tour speakers, which are, as my contact pointed out, "perfect for the new black iPod Nano."
