Alcatel is supplying all the phones in Marvel's upcoming Iron Man 3. Marvel

Marvel character and billionaire entrepreneur Tony Stark loves his tech toys, most notably the glowing chemical core embedded in his chest and his supercharged flying suit. But starting May 3, he may show a little love for the Alcatel One Touch Idol smartphone.

First seen at CES 2013, and soon to be seen in the film "Iron Man 3," the One Touch Idol is part of an exclusive mobile phone partnership for the film.

Alcatel and Marvel aren't sharing how often Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., and other characters will hold the phone, or how much spotlight it'll receive among the blasting rocket packs, exploding bombs, and whizzing futuristic computing devices that make their home in the FX-heavy "Iron Man" franchise. However, based on this preview, it could be quite a few.

This also isn't the first time Iron Man's Stark has flashed his smartphone. In "Iron Man 2," the megamogul-turned-super hero also sports a transparent LG concept phone.

Not to be confused with its close kin, the Idol Ultra, Alcatel's One Touch Idol is a light, thin 4.7-inch Android phone with a 1GHz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. Compared to the competition, it's now more of a midrange device when it comes to features, and we're still not sure exactly when it will come to the U.S. (apart from "later this year"), on which carrier, and for how much.

Those details aren't stopping Alcatel from pumping up the phone. The company, just a three-year-old entrant in the U.S. mobile market, is offering fans a chance to win a trip to the "Iron Man" premiere in Hollywood on April 24.
