iPhone 7 sexy enough to pull iOS users away from porn
Pornhub reports that many Apple users put all activities -- yes, all of them -- on hold to watch some new gadget porn instead.
Watching Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 7 event on Wednesday meant thousands of people weren't spending that time watching other things -- and Pornhub has the data to prove it.
It turns out new smartphones are sexy enough to compete with online porn, as the site reports it saw a 9.5 percent drop in global traffic from iOS users during Apple's live show, which had to be streamed primarily from Apple devices.
Pornhub Insights saw a similar drop of 8.8 percent from Safari browsers during the live keynote presentation. The site reports that Apple iPhones and iPads account for over 35 percent of Pornhub's 60 million daily visitors.
Interestingly, it appears that many people didn't necessarily watch the Apple keynote instead of visiting Pornhub, rather they just opted to wait until the iPhone announcement was over.
"In the hours following the show, Safari traffic increased as much as 6 percent above normal levels for a Wednesday afternoon," reads a Pornhub Insights blog post.
iOS traffic saw a similar but slightly smaller boost over normal traffic rates after the Apple event concluded, proving that all kinds of activities are scheduled around the introduction of a new iPhone.
Plenty of Pornhub regulars may have found themselves wishing they hadn't altered their normal viewing schedule, as our informal surveys found many people weren't all that stimulated by the new phones.
