Dell unveils the Latitude D420

Today Dell announced the Latitude D420, an update to the D410 that completes the company's latest revision of the D series. Inside the three-pound D420, there's a 1.06GHz Ultra Low Voltage Intel Core Solo processor (a Core Duo option is expected later this summer); up to 1.5GB of DDR2 533 SDRAM; a 60GB hard drive; and integrated Intel graphics. The laptop also features a 12.1-inch wide-aspect display with a 1,280x800 native resolution, as well as dual pointing devices, three USB ports, a FireWire port, and an SD card slot.

Like the D520, D620, and D820, the D420 is compatible with all D-series docking, power, and other accessories, and it includes such business-friendly features as optional built-in WWAN from Cingular or Verizon; a smart-card reader, the Trusted Platform Module, and a fingerprint reader for security; and a Wi-Fi catcher that can locate wireless networks without booting up.

Pricing starts at $1,379. We're waiting patiently to receive our D420 test unit and will have a full review up as soon as we can.
