Boost offers two options under its family plans.

Boost Mobile

Sprint's prepaid brand Boost Mobile wants to pay you to watch ads -- and that's not all.

The wireless carrier came out swinging on Tuesday with a bundle of announcements that include two new family plans, free phones and roaming in Mexico.

$5 ad-watching credit

Boost will give customers using Android phones a $5 monthly bill credit for installing the Boost Dealz app and keeping it active. The app will display advertisements on the lock screen, but will also communicate deals.

Family plans

Boost is also introducing two family plans that give each phone line (up to four) its own allotment of either 1.5GB or 5GB of data to use. By contrast, most shared data plans give the group a monthly data bucket to use -- some people could use more, some less. Pricing starts at $70 (see chart below).

Boost Family Plans

1.5GB per Phone5GB per Phone
Two Lines $70/month ($35 each line)$70/month ($35 each line)
Three Lines $90/month ($30 each line)$95/month ($31.67 each line)
Four Lines $100/month ($25 each line)$120/month ($30 each line)

If you use all your data, Boost will slow your speeds for the remainder of the billing cycle.

Family plan customers have some breathing room on their payments, too. Boost will not interrupt service until 14 days beyond a due date; incoming calls and texts are free even if it has been 60 days since the last payment.

Free phones

To sweeten the pot, the prepaid carrier today also revealed a limited-time promotion. Through April 5, customers can snag one free phone for every two new lines of service on a family plan. Handset options include the Alcatel OneTouch Elevate, Motorola Moto E, LG Tribute, LG Tribute 2 and ZTE Speed.

Roaming in Mexico

If you're going to Mexico, Boost Mobile plans now work there, too. As part of a $5 per month rate, you'll be able to get unlimited talk and text to and from Mexico, as well as up to 8GB of roaming data.
