Update: According to , by way of
the Inquirer, Intel said "No."
Nope, not another lawsuit. This time the full page ad, featured in today's editions of the
San Francisco Chronicle, the
San Jose Mercury News, USA Today, and the
Wall Street Journal, has AMD challenging Intel to a dual-core server-chip benchmarking head-to-head. This challenge is presumably in response to the recent announcement that
Intel's Paxville dual-core Xeon CPU will debut this year, rather than in 2006 as originally planned.
We can't say which chip would win, nor whether Intel will even respond. We would, however, like to suggest that if Intel is looking for some entrance music, Weird Al's
"It's All About the Pentiums" would make an excellent choice.
