3 Mobile is rolling out a first in Australia, allowing multiple users to share the value of a single capped calling plan. 3 is selling these new plans as the perfect choice for lovers and is just in time for Valentine's Day, but marketing gushiness aside, its new shared caps look like good deals.

The new packages come in two different flavours; a $79 shared cap that includes $650 worth of talk and text shared by two users, and a $109 shared cap with $1,000 worth of calls included and can be shared by three account holders. Both plans also have free 3-to-3 talk time.

The plans are being sold with LG KF310 handsets, two phones for the $79 plan and three phones on the $109 option.

If you compare these to 3's standard single-user caps, both plans are about $10 extra per month for the same included call value over 3's standard account caps. Though, if you and a friend are both on $49 cap plans, which include $350 worth of calls each month, then a $79 shared capped plan would give you both about the same level of use for about $20 less for each billing cycle.
