iPad dads: Father's Day top app picks for kids

It's daddy weekend. Here are our resident CNET dads' top picks for their toddlers.

Joseph Kaminski Senior Associate Technology Editor / Reviews
During my almost twenty years at CNET, I handled benchmark testing/methodologies for both Mac and PC systems and, sometime after, integrated testing for micro-mobility (e-bikes, electric scooters and EUCs), which is a passion of mine. Transitioning from a BMX background to this field was seamless. Despite testing numerous products, each new one brings the same excitement as my first.
Scott Stein Editor at Large
I started with CNET reviewing laptops in 2009. Now I explore wearable tech, VR/AR, tablets, gaming and future/emerging trends in our changing world. Other obsessions include magic, immersive theater, puzzles, board games, cooking, improv and the New York Jets. My background includes an MFA in theater which I apply to thinking about immersive experiences of the future.

D Day is upon us, for both veteran and fairly new fathers who love their tech gadgets.

From the "Daddy Tech Tandem" Scott Stein and Joseph Kaminski, here are iPad apps our kids love. Why the iPad? Currently, for both of us, it's our sons' gadget of choice. Joe's son's apps now populate more than an entire page on his iPad 2. (Joe bets his son's apps exceed his own in total cost.) Scott's "son apps" folder has bled over into a sequel. More and more, our iPads are becoming theirs.

But, hey, spending time and sharing with our children makes being a father the greatest thing ever. So, iPad dads, when you're done with the park, dinner, sports, or maybe just relaxing poolside, here are our recommendations on how to do a little bonding CNET-style.

And from all of us here at CNET, happy Father's Day.
