HTC One V slated for Virgin Mobile?
The aptly named HTC One V may be on its way to budget-carrier Virgin Mobile this spring for $200.
Another day and the Web spits out another HTC rumor to tease us with tantalizing new handsets. This time it's the HTC One V, kid brother to the HTC One X and One S, which will run a single-core CPU unlike its quad-core and dual-core siblings.
Still, if the predictions of gadget blog PocketNow are on the money, the HTC One V would be a compelling option for $200. That's especially true if it indeed lands on prepaid carrier Virgin Mobile, which also doesn't snare subscribers into lengthy 2-year contracts. AT&T confirmed it will offer a dual-core version of the HTC One X, while T-Mobile will scoop up the HTC One S.
About a year ago, the HTC One V would certainly be considered a sweet Android smartphone with Beats Audio on board and unibody aluminum design. Throw in this phone's modern Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and you could almost forget its shortcoming --namely slow processor, 5-megapixel camera, and small 3.7-inch screen.
The HTC One V is also expected to feature the latest version of HTC's Sense UI, which I've always liked for its elegant social media integration and slick weather animations. The new implementation is supposed to be seamlessly layered into ICS, basically less intrusive yet providing access to all of Android's updated skills. All three phones offer improved camera performance too.
If you're one of those hard-core HTC groupies, you know who you are, then the One V may even take you way back to the days of the iconic Hero and Legend phones complete with chin bump and all.
