Pioneer flagship boasts CarPlay and everything but the kitchen sink

Up until today the only way to experience Apple's Car Play would be well buy a brand new Ferrari FF.
But here we've got it installed in our 2007 Chevrolet Aveo.
Let's take a look at the Pioneer AVIC-80000NEX, the receiver that's making it all possible.
But before we get to that let's talk about the features that it has.
It's got a built in DVD player.
It's got it's own.
Navigation system with the 3D maps and traffic.
It also has a full range of digital audio sources including Bluetooth, a couple of USB ports, and SD card slots.
This is about as fully featured as car stereos come today.
And it's, well, no surprise because it's Pioneer's flagship.
But then things get a little different when you plug in an iPhone that's running the latest version of IOS 8. Well first the phone.
Shows that we're going into CarPlay and then after a couple of seconds the CarPlay interface pops up right here on the screen.
Now from here you have access to all of the CarPlay features including Siri voice command for your phone and text messages.
You can actually make and receive.
Calls all without taking your eyes off of the road just using Siri voice command.
And then you also have access to the music and podcast that may be stored on the device or using iTunes radio.
It all shows up in an interface that should look familiar to anyone who's used a version of iTunes or an iPhone.
Now part of the appeal here of using car play and Siri's eye free is that you should be able to do a lot of things.
Like receive text messages within them, without taking your eyes off the road.
So, let's have a go here and see how it works.

Navigate to the nearest coffee shop.
Getting directions to [INAUDIBLE] Roasting Company.
And then the directions just pop up on the map and you're on your way.
Head west south went onto [INAUDIBLE] street then turn right onto second street.
This is also gonna support pioneers app radio mode.
So users of older iPhones and android phones can also take advantage of their app integration as well.
Now that's Pioneer's most fully featured car stereo and the first to support Car Play.
It doesn't come cheap.
MSRP is about $1,400 for this bad boy, but the entire next line is going to support Car Play so there are less expensive models below it.
