2011 Chevrolet CruzeThis is how Chevy will convince you small cars are cool again.
[ Music ] ^M00:00:08 >> One of the best things about people getting interested in smaller cars is that gets car companies interested in making smaller cars nicer than just the little tin boxes they tend to be. Here's an example. Chevy Cruze, I would say it's new but it's really only new to America. This car's already been on the market in Asia and Europe and selling quite well there. Now this is a very small car, but the lines make it look a little bit more substantial, in fact, it's gonna replace the Cobalt which is, you know, a little econobox but this car prints much nicer and with more presence. Engines will be interesting, a 1.8-liter inline-4, kind of a naturally aspirated fuel-injected deal but there's also gonna be a 1.4-liter turbo, little tiny little guy but the turbo charger makes the difference, 138 horsepower and about 40 highway MPG, they promise. I'm also interested, impressed really by the stuff inside. Now most little cars are very little sophistication inside. This one's got a lot of, you know, first of all just the visual key, piano black here and lots of chrome surrounds on the gauges and that but more importantly is though cabin tech, it will be available, whether or not standard, with a navigation system, bluetooth hands free, satellite radio, USB port, of course, auxiliary jack, iPod support through USB. Whole lot of features you can up content this thing with and it definitely has a feel of a nicer car than where it's lowly level is. Even the seat upholstery, again, this is an upgraded interior trim, but this kind of seaming and leather you don't see on cars in this class. It's a theme we're seeing a cross a number of cars from other manufacturers. And transmission choices will include 6-speed automatic and/or manual, depending on the power train combination so they're not relegating old, you know, 4-speed autos or kind of garden variety 5-speed manuals to this lower level of car. The Cruze goes on sale in the U.S. Q3 of 2010. ^M00:01:53 [ Music ]
