>> It's a real meat-and-potato segment for the auto
business. Mid-size sedans, like the Ford Fusion, but
where's the hybrid. Well, here it is now, debuting in
Los Angeles, along with its Mercury stable-mate, the
Milan. Also with the same hybrid power train. The
bottom line is this. They're promising 5 miles per
gallon better than Camry hybrid in city EPA mileage.
That's a nice simple headline for consumers. How about
the cabin tech. We've seen Ford Sync in here before,
that will be available, as well as Sirius Travel Link.
Also the Smart Gauge we've shown you before, an LCD info
panel where vines grow as you drive more greenly at its
prompting. Look for blind spot information system, kind
of a hot new thing with a lot of car makers. And
there's a detector that keeps you from backing up into
cross-traffic and getting T-boned. That, and Sony
branded audio makes the tech message here fairly strong,
along with the green message.
