Verizon's Moto X gets taste of Android 5.0
The Lollipop-flavored update has begun for Big Red's take on Motorola's flagship smartphone.
Verizon started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop updates on Monday to the Motorola Moto X (2014) .
At more than 600MB, the large Lollipop update looks like its the same mostly stock Android experience we've come to expect, flavored with hints of Motorola's own look and software additions.
Once installed, users will be able to toggle between Android 5.0's Ambient Display and Motorola's Moto Display lock screen. Motorola does note that the Android interface may not be as battery efficient as their own home-grown alternative.
It will be interesting to see whether Moto X owners report any issues with their device once Lollipop is installed. A number of Nexus users are finding that their smartphones and tablets have been rendered "unusable" in wake of the Android 5.0 upgrade.
Bugs, thus far, reportedly affect calling, Wi-Fi connectivity, audio, and Adobe Air apps. If Motorola's update leaves the same sour taste, the company will be on the receiving end of angry Android users.
