UberEats brings food delivery, instant gratification to Sydney
Uber is the app that takes you to your favourite restaurant, and now UberEats is the app that brings your favourite restaurant to you.

After dabbling in ice cream and kitten delivery, Uber wants to become your go-to takeaway delivery guy with the Sydney launch of UberEats.
The standalone app will let Sydneysiders order takeaway and track the delivery to their door from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. The Sydney launch follows the arrival of UberEats in Melbourne in April. As part of its expansion into Sydney, UberEats will offer free delivery for a limited time (delivery is still free in Melbourne).
UberEats is separate to the standard Uber app, but you can still use your normal Uber account to sign up.
The move into food delivery will see Uber compete against other app-based delivery services such as MenuLog and Foodora. And while you'll still need to download a separate app to use the service, Uber is no doubt hoping brand recognition will get it across the line.
UberEats lets you order takeaway and then track the delivery to your door.
More than 100 restaurants are on board from day one, including Three Blue Ducks, Fratelli Fresh, and Surry Hills' "hybrid sneaker, fried chicken and champagne bar" Butter. Yes, if you don't live in Sydney, this is how we live now.
Uber says the new app "gives local restaurants a reliable delivery option, effectively expanding their capacity and ability to service a whole new network of potential customers."
UberEats is available for download on Android and iOS.
