Telecom equipment maker Telcordia Technologies has named Nortel Networks veteran Matthew J. Desch as chief executive officer. Desch left Nortel in 2000, where he was executive vice president. He replaces Richard Smith, who has served as Telcordia chief executive for the last five years. Smith will remain with the company but will have a new title.
