Although it was introduced a few weeks ago, Sony Ericsson showed us its beyond-basic J100a yesterday. Think of it as the antidote for low-maintenance cell phone users sick of wading through too many fancy models. The J100a comes in a simple candy bar form factor in either polar blue or twilight blue. Features include a 65,546-color display, text messaging, an alarm clock, a stopwatch, and polyphonic ring tones. There's no carrier yet for the dual-band (GSM 850/1900) phone, but you can bet that such a simple handset won't take too much from your wallet.
