Short take: Yamaha uses Sondius-XG for audio chips

Yamaha Corporation has developed new PCI audio chips using Sondius-XG technology. The chipset will use the new technology to synthesize sounds that are "virtually indistinguishable" from actual instruments, Yamaha said. The technology is derived from a patent cross-licensing agreement between Yamaha and Stanford University.
