Short Take: Xylan offers support for multimedia

Switch maker Xylan announced that it will offer support for voice, video, and data across its ATM-based networking gear via circuit emulation services, available immediately. The company will add modules to both its PizzaSwitch and OmniSwitch hardware that can send this variety of data across a single ATM link. Through the emulation support, the boxes can now handle Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, ATM, and the new multimedia traffic. Prices for the PizzaSwitch add-on start at less than $7,000. OmniSwitch modules start at $12,000.
