Short Take: VPNet plans to buy virtual private network firm

VPNet Technologies plans to purchase NeWorks Networking, a services company that monitors and manages virtual private networks (VPNs). The acquisition will allow VPNet to better configure and maintain its customers networks. VPN technology gives users a secure connection to corporate networks through the public Internet. VPNet, which makes software for VPNs, did not disclose the cost of the deal.
