Short Take: UUNet router glitch slows Silicon Valley traffic

A router in Silicon Valley experienced a software glitch Friday afternoon, causing a slowdown in traffic to and from the East Coast between 1:30 and 2:15 p.m. PT. UUNet, a major backbone provider, brought traffic back to normal by shutting down the router and rerouting traffic, according to a spokesperson.
