Short Take: Software AG extends DCOM to Unix and mainframe systems

Software AG has announced EntireX, a middleware package that extends Microsoft's Windows-based DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) technology to mainframe and Unix systems. The software will be available by year's end. A special free version for Sun Microsystems' Solaris can be downloaded from the company's Web site. Mainframe versions of EntireX are priced from $200,000.
