Short Take: Qwest, KPN complete fiber optic ring in Europe
Qwest Communications International and Dutch telco KPN have completed construction of their first fiber optic ring in Europe. The "EuroRing," one of six planned by 2000, spans 1,500 miles and connects eight European cities. KPNQwest, a joint venture formed last year, plans to connect 40 European cities with Qwest's U.S. network by the end of the first quarter.
