Short Take: PacBell restores most DSL service after outages

The "vast majority" of Pacific Bell's high-speed digital subscriber line, or DSL, customers have had their Internet service restored after many suffered "intermittent disruptions" in "localized pockets" around the San Francisco Bay Area, according to Pacific Bell Internet spokeswoman Michelle Strykowski. The outages, which ranged from Napa, California, to Redwood City, California--but did not affect the eastern region of the Bay Area--lasted for nearly three days in some cases. The local phone company could not say how many users were affected, what caused the problem, or when the remainder of affected users' service will be restored.
