Short Take: NorthPoint to roll out DSL in Detroit

NorthPoint Communications is expected to unveil digital subscriber line (DSL) service in Detroit after launching service in Atlanta. The two new markets--coupled with a recent roll out in Texas--brings NorthPoint's total to 15 metropolitan areas served. NorthPoint, a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) focusing on data services, plans to offer DSL in 28 markets by the end of the year. The company is expected to go public in May.
