Short Take: NorthPoint buys ad campaign

NorthPoint Communications, a wholesale provider of high-speed digital subscriber lines, has launched an advertising campaign to highlight the lifestyle enhancing aspects of having high-speed, or "broadband," access to the Internet. The campaign will feature print, radio, outdoor, online and direct marketing, produced by Grey Advertising/SF. NorthPoint's move follows the campaigns, about $50 million each, of competitors Covad Communications and Rhythms NetConnections, which have aired TV ads. The cost of NorthPoint's campaign was not disclosed.
