Short Take: MFN purchases Juniper gear

Metromedia Fiber Network, a fiber-optic network operator, will buy and install 170 Internet backbone routers manufactured by Juniper Networks. The contract with MFN, a significant communications service provider with a stake in AboveNet Communications, provides momentum for Juniper, which competes against networking equipment giant Cisco Systems, the world's largest company in terms of market value. MFN will deploy Juniper's M160 routers on its high-speed fiber optic network. Terms of the contract, including price, were not disclosed.
