Short Take: Gilat-To-Home signs satellite deal

Gilat-To-Home, a consumer satellite Internet access service, has signed a satellite capacity deal with Loral Skynet in preparation for its commercial launch later this year. The company will lease transponder capacity on Loral's Telstar 7 satellite in order to deliver its Net access service to rural and remote residential consumers. Gilat-To-Home, which has backing from Microsoft and EchoStar Communications, recently completed trials of its service.
