Exodus Communications, a Web hosting company, plans to offer gigabit Ethernet connections--10 times faster than previous technologies--between its Web servers and Internet connections. The gigabit Ethernet connections, which can transfer data at 1,000 mbps (megabits per second), will allow for faster loading of Web pages during peak download times, according to a spokesman. The service will be available in some markets in February and worldwide within six months.
