Short Take: AT&T WorldNet suffers outage

AT&T's WorldNet service today suffered an eight-hour outage across the country. A company spokesman said that a network error in another service provider's system set off a chain reaction that took down AT&T's systems. Many of the company's small business service customers were also affected. Technicians restored service at about 4:30 p.m. ET, the company said.
