Short: MCI, BT connect U.S. and U.K. with ATM

and BT announced that its joint venture company, Concert, has started deploying ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) switches in the United States and United Kingdom. They will offer precommercial ATM service between both nations this year when they interconnect their ATM services, MCI's HyperStream ATM and BT's Cellstream service. In 1997, the service will be expanded to additional countries.
