SBC Communications announced Wednesday that it has expanded its deal with equipment maker Nortel Networks to supply telecommunications services to businesses. The telecommunications services provider will use Nortel Networks' equipment and support throughout its Pacific Bell, Southwestern Bell and Ameritech regions.
The deal adds to a previous multimillion dollar agreement for equipment in 11 states. Terms of the extension to the agreement were not disclosed. The equipment will allow SBC to offer IP (Internet protocol) transmission services and PBX (private branch exchange system) technology to telecommunications customers. A PBX is a private phone switching system for offices.
