Qualcomm, SK Telecom team on investing

Wireless technology provider Qualcomm and SK Telecom, a Korean communications carrier, have agreed to jointly invest in start-up companies using Qualcomm's CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) wireless transmission technology. Both companies will contribute $5 million to the effort. CDMA, one of several competing wireless technologies, is popular in Korea and the United States. Qualcomm, which generates much of its revenue from licensing its patents, is pushing to expand the use of CDMA in China and elsewhere in Asia. Separately, SK Telecom recently announced that the next generation of wireless phone services will be delayed for a year.
