Proxim takes patent dispute overseas

Proxim has asked the International Trade Commission to stop companies such as Acer, Addtron, Enterasys and Melco from importing to the United States some products that contain wireless networking technology that Proxim says it has patented. The action was filed Friday with the Washington, D.C.-based trade organization. The filing took place a day after the wireless networking company sued rivals Cisco Systems, 3Com and four others, accusing them of infringing on three of its wireless patents. Proxim is claiming the companies are using its patented technology in their wireless networking kits, which let people wirelessly link their desktop computers and laptops and share a Net connection.
