Pantech Ease for easier texting
AT&T and Pantech announces the Pantech Ease, which promises to have a simpler and easier user interface for texting.
Pantech just announced the Pantech Ease, a messaging handset which, according to the company, focuses on simplicity and ease of use. It has a 3.2-inch touch-screen display and a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard.
As with its entry-level Breeze, the Pantech Ease has two modes: easy and advanced. The easy mode has a simplified menu interface along with large legible font that you can increase for even larger text. Pantech isn't marketing the Ease as a senior-friendly device only; however, the company makes it clear the Ease was designed with senior citizens in mind.
The Easy Mode has a few specialized apps, such as a pedometer with a seven-day history, and a mode that will announce incoming callers and texters in addition to reading out the text message. There's also a voice mode that will let you dictate a message instead of typing it out, which would be handy if your hands are needed elsewhere.
Its other features include a 2-megapixel camera, 7.2Mbps HSPA speeds, a pedometer, a HTML Web browser, GPS with AT&T Navigator, and it has access to the AT&T Address Book service that lets you store and backup your contacts to AT&T servers.
The Pantech Ease will be available from AT&T on June 20 for $69.99 with a rebate and a new two-year service agreement. The phone requires a $20 messaging plan, or a combination of messaging and data plans.
