Android 4.4.2 KitKat has landed on the Motorola Moto G in the UK. Your wallet-friendly Moto G is even better value for money as it updates to the latest Android software from today.

"Our KitKat family is expanding!" says Motorola. "When we launched Moto G to the UK market in November 2013, we committed to delivering Android, KitKat, to devices by early 2014. We’re thrilled to start delivering on that promise.

"Over the next week we are officially rolling out Android 4.4.2 to Moto G phones -- starting today! This latest version of Android brings some cool new features, including printing emails and photos from your phone."

Some CNET readers have reported that they have the KitKat update already. Your Moto G will notify you when the update is available to download, or if you want to check manually then not make sure you have a decent Wi-Fi or data connection, open the phone's Settings, and have a squizz at About Phone then System Updates.

In a customer service forum post, Motorola outlines the improvements for the Moto G, including full-screen mode, beefed-up security, and clever power use so your processor doesn't have to labour so hard and your battery lasts longer. You also get a souped-up phone dialler, printing from your phone, and photo editing in the Gallery app.

The £130 Moto G is cheaper than the Nexus 5 and is the first phone outside Google's own Nexus family to get cutting-edge KitKat, making it the first phone to bear the fruit of Google's absorption of Motorola and edging it ahead of the Galaxy Note 3, which is reported to be ready for the KitKat update in Europe.

Is the Moto G the best value phone going? Are you excited about KitKat? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.
