Moto X hits Sprint on Sept. 6

If you've been tempted by the new Motorola Moto X smartphone but was wondering when it'll actually land on Sprint, get ready to smile. The carrier officially confirmed it will arrive on Friday for $199.99 with a two-year contract.

For those of you not familiar with Motorola's latest creation, the Moto X is the first Motorola-branded handset born from the company's new reincarnation under its parent company Google. Running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the Moto X flaunts a wide range of abilities including a few extra tricks.

This includes "Touchless Control" voice command to carry out advanced searches without lifting a finger, along with "Active Display" that strives to save power by highlighting alerts sans notification light and without firing up the entire screen.

Sprint is the latest big US carrier to finalize pricing and availability. Others include AT&T, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular. Motorola claims T-Mobile will also sell a version of the Moto X but it still is unclear whether the wireless provider will offer the device at a subsidized price. That would no doubt prove a deal breaker for cash-strapped TMO shoppers hoping to grab a Moto X at a low up-front cost.
