How can an already brilliant bargain phone like the Moto G4 get any better? By coming with pure, unadulterated Android and getting even cheaper.

The Moto G4 Play will hit UK shelves in August and will cost only £129, cutting £40 off what was already an extremely reasonable price.

That's unambiguously good news, but I'm less sure why Moto needs to make a pure Android version. Motorola's phones already run near-stock versions of Android without any of the clutter you'll find on phones from Huawei or Samsung. An actual stock Android model probably won't look all that different.

Other specs of the phone remain unchanged, including its 13-megapixel camera, 5.5-inch full HD display and quad-core processor.
