Screenshots and video of MeeGo, the Linux-based operating system that Nokia's planning on slapping on its upcoming high-end smart phones, have popped up on the MeeGo Web site. The shots show MeeGo 'Day 1', an early version of the software that was released to developers yesterday.
MeeGo will take on Google's Android, another Linux-based OS, for space on mobile phones, netbooks and tablet computers. Android is already on plenty of mobile phones, such as the HTC Desire, and it's starting to appear on netbooks like the Acer Aspire One D250 Android.
Nokia is sticking with its much loved -- but somewhat dated -- Symbian OS for its more basic phones. Check out our hands-on review of Symbian 3 on the Nokia N8, which will be the last smart phone from Nokia to rock that OS, Nokia told Reuters.
