LG Optimus Black en route to Optus, Voda, Telstra

Optus and Vodafone will roll out the handset first this month, with Telstra following in July. The handset will also be sold outright, with LG quoting a recommended retail price of AU$599.
The Optimus Black is the fashion-focused unit of LG's 2011 Android smartphone range. Measuring 9.2mm thick, the Black is only marginally thicker than the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, the Samsung Galaxy S II and the iPhone 4. LG is also touting the virtues of the handset's NOVA display; an LCD panel capable of producing 700-nits of brightness, or nearly 50 per cent brighter than its nearest competitor, the iPhone 4's Retina display. Similar to Apple's phone, the Optimus Black also features in-plane switching (IPS) tech in the LCD, improving off-axis viewing angles.
The Optimus Black is the second of three Android smartphones from LG confirmed for release in Australia, following the recent arrival of the Optimus 2X, and preceeding the upcoming Opitmus 3D. LG will also ship its 8.9-inch Optimus Tab Honeycomb tablet in the coming months.
