Press play on the big box above and brace yourself for a journey into the abyss. And by abyss we mean Westfield shopping centre in London, where we queued overnight to pick up a brand-new iPhone 4S at 8am on launch day.

Into the maw of madness and through the i of insanity -- yes reader, CNET UK has once more ventured into the darkest recesses of the human psyche in order to bring you several minutes of video that will turn your heart to jelly and your brains to silly string.

Arriving way too early and bearing rucksacks big enough to smuggle a professional boxer, Amie and Luke blundered naively into what would become a night of Apple-flavoured exhaustion, seasoned with microwave popcorn, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and an un-puffed puffer jacket.

Finding strength in the company of eager Apple enthusiasts, our heroic velvet rope-renegades were able to bring you this behind-the-scenes glimpse at a night spent waiting for an Apple product.

Some would decry their actions as pure madness, but despite the hardships, the unyielding marble flooring and a lack of foresight in not bringing something to read, Amie and Luke report that they both had lots of fun. Or at least they probably will when they wake up.

The iPhone 4S was worth the wait, rewarding our bleary-eyed bastions of hope with a souped-up processor and a fantastic 8-megapixel camera. Not everything about the phone is incredible, and it certainly doesn't pack the punch that the iPhone 4 did when it launched, but it's still a cracking piece of kit.
