IBM serving up more servers

Dorian Benkoil
IBM sold its PC business to Chinese company Lenovo last year but today is announcing new steps it's taking to sell slightly higher-end machines: servers. These boxes, more gussied up than PCs, let you network computers, share files, and otherwise run a small or medium-size business in which people need shared or centralized files or applications.

IBM's servers will allow multiple operating systems and shared software. An IBM exec said 12 to 15 separate PCs can simultaneously run on each server, which will be in the BladeCenter series.
