Over the past couple of days, there have been numerous reports and some confusion over whether shipments of the Dell Venue Pro have been delayed till January 6 (original estimated ship date was December 9).

We contacted Dell to try to get to the bottom of the situation and was directed to check out the Dell community blog where it is providing updates on the status of Windows Phone 7 device.

In the blog, Dell's chief blogger Lionel Menchaca admitted that it "recently experienced a slight delay in shipment times," which would affect the shipping date for some customers. He added that the reported January 6 date might be true for some customers but not all, and depends on when they placed their order.

Dell says it plans to begin more deliveries on Friday and that it has ramped up production, but its first priority is delivering the "right out-of-the-box" experience." Great but wouldn't you think they would have done all of this in the first place?

For what it's worth, Dell is now offering anyone who ordered the Venue Pro on or before December 14 a free Plantronics Explorer 240 Bluetooth headset and will ship the smartphone overnight at no additional cost.

If you ordered a Dell Venue Pro, we'd love to hear from you. Have you received your device? If you're one of the affected customers, are you satisfied with Dell's response or are you over it? Let us know.
