Cricket Wireless customers will soon be able to place calls and send texts from Canada and Mexico to the US at no additional charge.

Previously, Cricket subscribers on Smart and Pro plans could make unlimited calls to both countries, but communications back from Mexico and Canada would cost you.

Cricket will automatically add the new "round-trip" feature to these selected rate plans, which also offer unlimited texting, video, and picture messaging to Canada and Mexico. Keep in mind that the plan supports SMS text messages (and not photo or video messaging) from Mexico to the US.

The unlimited calling and texting feature starts on August 2 for Mexico; Canada will come later in the month.

Cricket is a prepaid wireless provider that taps into parent company AT&T's cellular network for coverage.
