The Palm Pre is quickly becoming my lifeline. From posting to Twitter to checking my email, I'm doing more and more on the Pre. When I'm sitting outside enjoying the cool morning breeze I'm tackling my email inbox without having to drag out the laptop. While my kid is playing with the neighbor kids I'm conducting business just two feet away.

With all this technology at my fingertips, literally, I'm becoming more and more addicted to being connected. I can't decide if this is good or bad...

After unboxing the Pre I immediately installed a few must-have applications including Tweed and LinkedIn. I was tickled that they downloaded and installed so quickly.

Tweed - The Pre's Twitter App
Tweed - The Pre's Twitter App Pivotal Labs

I'm already liking Tweed every bit as much as I like my desktop version of Twhirl. On my Instinct all I could get was the mobile version of Twitter.com and with that you can't just replay to a tweet, retweet something you like, or view your direct messages. It's really lame and I've always hated it. Tweed rocks my socks off. It does everything I could ever ask for in a mobile Twitter application.

The LinkedIn app seems very simple to me. I'm not on LinkedIn a whole lot, but what I've tried so far works great. Basically, you can view your contacts, click thru to see their profiles, and you can view your own profile.

Being able to chat via gTalk (Google's Instant Messaging client) is wonderful. I'm anxious to see some other clients like Windows/MSN messaging added to the Palm Pre's list of IM clients.

The only application I feel is lacking to make my social networking complete is Skype. I'm expecting there will be an app for this amazing service before too long and I plan to be one of the first to try it out!

Can I just say it? I'm ready to ditch the Samsung Instinct!!!
