L'Oreal UV Sense

L'Oreal, famous makeup maker, has developed a battery-free wearable called the UV Sense that measures UV exposure. At only 2mm thick and 9mm in diameter, the tiny electronic sensor can be worn on a fingernail or a pair of sunglasses and, via an app, will give the wearer warnings about sun exposure.

It's available exclusively through dermatologists in 2018 with a global launch planned for 2019. Estimated pricing is $40 or less (roughly converting to £30 in the UK and AU$50).

Kolibree Magik smart toothbrush

Brush teeth, kill monsters, prevent cavities. The Magik smart toothbrush uses computer vision technology, motion tracking and your phone's front-facing camera to power an augmented-reality gaming app. Not sure how much it will improve your oral hygiene, but it sounds like fun for kids and could encourage them to brush more.

Availability and pricing unknown so far.

Freemie Liberty

Launched here at CES 2018, the Freemie Liberty is a hands-free breast pump with a programmable sleep timer that lets mothers set-and-forget while they pump (hallelujah).

The Freemie Liberty hits Babys R Us and Buy Buy Baby in the US in January, followed by other countries by the end of March. The final price is still to be announced, but Dao Health says it will sell for roughly $300 (about £220 or AU$380 converted).

Garmin Forerunner GPS smartwatch

Like most smartwatches, the new Garmin Forerunner line gives you features such as step counters, location tracking and apps for checking your health data. But the Forerunner music watch, with storage for 500 songs, also supports GPS and Garmin Pay and has physical buttons instead of a touchscreen -- which means you won't have to fuss with it when you just want to get through your workout.

They start at $450 (about £330 or AU$575 converted) or $400 (about £295 or AU$510 converted) for the non-music version, but availability has not yet been announced.

Omron HeartGuide

Omron's HeartGuide is a smartwatch with medical-grade blood pressure tracking. That's on top of all the fitness tracking and notifications you've come to expect from wearables.

It's still undergoing clinical tests, and should be submitted to the FDA later in 2018. The target price is $349, about the cost of an Apple Watch (converts to roughly AU$445, £260).

HiMirror Mini

The HiMirror Mini is an internet-connected smart mirror that includes Alexa, Amazon's voice-activated digital assistant. It uses its built-in camera to analyze your skin, track any skincare goals you have and record the results of the products you use.

CNET's Ashlee Clark Thompson let the HiMirror Mini take a look at her during a product exhibition during CES. After it took her picture, it came back with percentages measuring dark circles, red spots, dark spots, pores, wrinkles, fine lines and roughness. According to the HiMirror Mini, she needs more sleep and a better under-eye concealer.

The HiMirror will be available in early summer 2018.

Nokia Sleep pad

The Nokia Sleep, available for $100 starting in early 2018, is a Wi-Fi-enabled device that sits under your mattress and is supposed to give all sorts of stats about your sleep (roughly £75/AU$125, converted).

Nokia says its Sleep sensor will track your sleep, including how long you sleep, how restfully you sleep and even how much you snore. Similarly to what Sleep Number offers, Nokia is supposed to give you a score with details on last night's snooze, including recommendations on ways to improve.
