Hello, my name is Dong Ngo and today, we're gonna take the first look at a router that most home users are gonna be happy to have, the Linksys E2000 Advanced Wireless-N router from Cisco.
Now, the E2000 is one tier lower than the E3000 in the Linksys E series that Cisco introduced all year this year.
However, in many ways, we found that the E2000 that we have here today is a much better deal.
When compared to the E3000, the E2000 lacks two features.
First, it doesn't have a USB port.
On the back here, you're gonna find only your network port, four LANs and one WAN.
These are all Gigabit, by the way.
The lack of a USB port means the router doesn't support printers or external hard drives.
The second shortcoming is the fact that the E2000 is not a true dual band router.
It does support both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, but it can only work in one at a time.
To make up for this, the E2000 showed excellent performance in our testing.
It is by far the fastest router for home we've seen.
And, of course, the router looks great with this UFO shape and hidden antenna design.
What makes the E2000 great for home user is its included Cisco Connect software that completely takes care of those setting up and management of the router.
Just pop the CD into the CD-ROM drive and everything is taken care of.
At most, users are required to interact with the process via just two or three mouse clicks.
Advanced users can also use this web interface to use the router's more advanced features such as the ability to operate in the 5 GHz band.
At the street price of less than $100, the E2000 makes a great router for those who want a fast and hassle free wireless network.
