CNET gets creative

>> Hey there. I'm Brian Tong, and welcome to the CNET Mailbag. You know, Molly's got pink eye. Tom's flying on a Maltese Falcon. Cooley is working from home -- really, playing with his cats. So it looks like you guys are stuck with me. Ok, let's get started with the bad news. First up, Tom -- not that Tom -- says, "You guys are doing a great job over there at CNET. Thank you for your dedication and hard work. As you may be aware, 4-15's episode of Loaded looked like it was filmed with a dirty lens, and I found out that I'm not a big fan of the dirty lens filter. I hope for future episodes, a clean lens will be utilized in order to allow for a more pleasant viewing experience. Thanks again." We like to try new, fun, artsy things once in a while. So sorry you didn't like it. Now, come on, now, I'm messing with you. We sent a big box of microfiber cloths to the New York studio, so it should be better now. But I'll also tell Natali to stop making out with the lens. Jason from Michigan has a question about our new video versions of podcasts. "I love the fact that we're able to view the video version of Buzz Out Loud and not have to watch it live. Is it ever going to be possible to subscribe to an RSS feed of those videos?" Man, you guys are never happy, are you? You've got the audio podcast with RSS feed. You've got RSS feeds of all our video podcasts, and now you have to have a video version of the audio podcasts, and you want an RSS feed of that, too? Well, yeah, you guys have got a point. It seems pretty reasonable. And I'm sure it's coming, so just be patient. Now, Jason Howell is a really busy and really tall guy, so I'll make sure he gets on it, or else I'll five him an iFu [phonetic] beat down. Okay, now for the good news. We took a risk with the Lost versus Battlestar Galatica prizefight, and it worked. You guys loved it. Well, no, most of you hated it, but only because you're crazy fans of one of the shows. Let's give you a chance to respond. DC Yeah says, "Just finished watching the Lost versus BSG prizefight, and serious, wardrobe? After five rounds, it's a tie, and you decide on wardrobe? Lost should have won by a mile. No other show on TV has as much mystery, intrigue, and just plain awesomeness than Lost. Molly, get out of here. Tom's right. Lost rules." Okay, MK Gates says, "The Lost versus BSG prizefight was close? Battlestar should be insulted. Lost took a concept that could have been deeply compelling, psychological drama, combining bits of Cast Away and Lord of the Flies, and instead made it Melrose Place with time travel and tropical polar bears. Please, the show makes so little seen as a whole that the only solutions even huge fans can buy into involve various ways of saying, 'None of this really happened.' Thanks for fighting the good fight, Molly. If Battlestar had lost, I don't think I could have respected your website anymore. I'm kind of kidding. Smiles." And some of you just enjoyed watching. James says, "I just watched the latest prizefight, and it was the best prizefight ever. I, like Brian, don't watch either Battlestar Galactica or Lost, but I was literally laughing out loud at my desk at work. Um, I mean home. I love the way you and Tom duked it out, and the prettiest -- um, I mean the best person won. Sorry, Tom. Keep up the good work and I love what must have been a recent wardrobe budget boost. I hope we see more of crazy costumes that have been "appearing" lately. Love it." Now, you know, I'm all about the wardrobe, so I pulled those costumes from my own closet, and hey, it fit them both perfectly. And the red dress, hot. Now, I'm glad you all enjoyed a little different take, and we'll be looking to do more out-of-the-box prizefights once in a while. Now, finally, Adam in the UK had a comment about Molly's performance in that episode. He says, "Molly, Molly, Molly. Why, oh why did you punch the camera at the hoo pa [phonetic] finale? I'm sorry to say that you did look a little silly getting it wrong. Stood next to Brian and Tom, who got it right. Smiley wink." Adam, Adam, Adam, there is not right way to wah paw It's all about what you feel inside, man. Look at Tom. He did "I love you" in sign language. Isn't that cute? But there is a right way to spell it, and people have failed me there. Okay, everyone, that's it for today's special edition of Brian Tong Mailbag. I'm guessing you would have sent a lot more hate mail if you knew it was me hosting this week. But send your email to the mailbag@CNET.com, or send your snail mail to 235 Second Street, San Francisco, California, 94105. And just for your information, it's "wah paw." Wah paw."
